I got my IT7 MAX yesterday and the damn BIOS battery was pushed over to 1 side and only 1 of the 3 leads were touching the mobo. Obviously this made the bitch DOA. Why in the hell would Abit make this thing stick straight in the air, right beside the IDE's begging to be broke off as opposed to the traditional way of laying it flat on the mobo? Here's a pic from OCP. They list it as a benefit. Personally I think it's a ludicrous design.

It was broke when I got it. I noticed it leaning to the left as I was pulling it out of the plastic box. I knew the shit wouldn't boot but I tried anyways. Got CMOS Checksum error because it didn't see the battery. I Superglued the bitch but it didnt' work. Coulda maybe attempted soldering it, but fugg that. I RMA'd it back to newegg today.

Some may run w/out it, but it won't hold any BIOS changes. I can't be havin' that. Anyways, this bitch was just jacked up.

Kustom stopped selling Abit a year ago, seems that over 25% of the motherboards they had were POO and had to be returned. Time to hire some quality control peeps I would say!
I dont like the bios battery standing like that, its an accident waiting to happen.

OK, I got my IT7 Max 2, and the fugga gives me a long beep (error code d7), and a blank screen, on a cold boot. If I press reset it then reboots fine, in fact any warm boot works fine, just the cold boot causes the error.

It appears to be a IT7 & ATI 9700 problem. And just to piss on my day a little more the Terratec sound card doesn't work (tried win98se and win2k)- fugg em all I say
