Im having tons of problems with this mobo

here goes:

this is for a gateway gt5404 machine.

im reinstalling windows vista and everything is going ok. updates and all. i can install all of the programs fine. but when it comes time to restart the machine the computer hangs on a black screen and then there's "nothing". i figured out that to solve this problem is to shut off the power supply switch, turn it back on, then start up the machine again. after i do that it boots just fine! WTF is this shit? i've installed a clean copy of vista with a format. im beginning to think the mobo is bad and/or ram is going bad.

what do you guys think?

also here's some info on the BIOS settings:

the chipset is an intel i945g/gz rev. A2
southbridge: intel 82801GB (ICH7/R)
LPCIO: SMSC LPC47M182

MOBO: Intel
model: D945GCL AAD75361-201

BIOS:
BRAND - INTEL CORP.
VERSION - CF94510J.15A.0028.2006.1213.1629
DATE - 12/13/2006

i even tried to flash the BIOS with what was given on Gateway's website (Intel's website didnt have the correct one i needed and i have no idea why). it didnt work and failed to load again. eventually when i got it started again, the mobo reverted back to the original settings (like it was saved somewhere). hard coded in perhaps? help!

RAMs easy enough to check...especially if you have more than one stick. Could be a bios issue, if this continues ya might try flashing it...but I'd leave that as a last resort.

Sorry to say its sounding like that...could be a bad bios chip. Might begin shopping for a new Mobo...
