ECS G31T-M version 1.0 motherboard not working?
My computer just suddenly stopped working. The computer just isn't getting any power.
I tested my power supply on another computer and it works. When I try to turn the computer on, nothing gets power. I figure it's probably the motherboard but I'm not too sure. The ECS G31T-M board was made from china, i think. I bought it long time ago at Fry's. Is it the motherboard's fault or is possibly CPU related? Rams? Please help! Thank you. |

Disconnect everything from the PSU save the motherboard (and video card, if it has a dedicated connection) and see if the machine will turn on then.
Keep in mind that you don't want to run it longer than necessary if there are no fans cooling it. If the machine turns on, then you have a bad peripheral or fan shorting down the PSU. If not, then it is most likely the motherboard.

Oh the horror! The part that caused the short is my 9600 GT video card, the most expensive single part in my computer.
I assembled the computer outside the case and everything looks good accept for my video card. The computer won't start with the PCI-E power supply plug into the video card; without the PCI-E from power supply (the video card is in the PCI-E slot) the whole computer start, the video card's fan worked but without power from power supply unit, I get no picture. I tested another video card, 7900 GS, from a working computer and it worked without a hitch. I bought my 9600 GT like 10 months ago, hopefully their warranty cover this. Thanks for your tip. I almost spend some bucks on another motherboard. |
