What do you think of Laptop standardization?

Hey, it really bugs me that you can't upgrade laptops. I have a perfectly good case, and perfectly good ram and a perfectly good hdd. But my mobo and cpu have had it.

Is anyone in favour of the option of upgradable laptops where the user can customise if they want. If built right I don't think it would be too difficult. They possibly wouldn't be as beautiful as the package laptops but it would provide an option that I certainly would entertain..

I would really like to know peoples thoughts on this matter.

I don't think you will find anyone here that is against it. Laptop manufacturers have far too much power over what hardware can be placed in their systems, but it's tough to find a white-box lappy manufacturer...

I'm not even just talking whitebox, I'm talking just an empty case with no mobo or cpu inside. It would be good that laptops, like desktops had a standard motherboard layout for where the usbs and such like are. This would open up a whole new world of possiblities.

Thanx for input.

oh my god!! i would love to build a laptop!!! i've probably built over 200 computers in my life time and not once have i ever built a laptop.

it would be so freakin awesome to go to newegg and buy a laptop case, an lcd display, a mobo, modular optical drive/battery, etc. i love having control over what i put into a computer--i just wish you could do the same with laptops. at least i wouldn't be stuck w/ the crap i'm forced to buy from dell and ibm.

Dear Mr. Customer,

I think what happened is that there were messages downloaded at the same time as the "quota" message, emptying the inbox, making the quota message somewhat meaningless. There may also have been messages on the Mail Site server that the email program that lives on your computer deleted from the Mail Site server, depending on the settings of the email program that lives on your computer.

Sincerely,
