If your looking for extra-light without going to something like the EEEPC (heart). The Macbook Air won't steer you wrong. Its an amazing piece of machinery. The Mac OS is shiney and stable, and if thats not your thing, you can dual boot windows or ubuntu (or any other linux distro) Or hell, do all three and walk around with some kind of super thin multiOS supersystem. (Triboot was always the way I wanted to go.)
If you plan to just reformat it with windows, there is probably a PC laptop like it with a slightly smaller tag.
But it's definately worth the price if you like the MacOS.
