Laptop Keyboard Toubles

Ok im new here so i hope this is in the right place. So my laptop is a compaq Pressario V2000 and it has lasted forever no problems. This weekend i was on it playing Halo online and Downloaded a few programs off Downloads.com and i let it sit on overnight like I usually do. So I noticed right before I went to bed my Mouse (Cheap USB not pad connected) keep connecting and disconnecting and it finally stop working in the USB port I usually use so i plug it into another port and it also goes in and out of connection. The next morning it was running realy slow but i figured it was because of the converter i was running on a movie. I left it to finish and came back a little later and my Mouse nor my keybord would turn the screen back on. It was on and still thinking a little but i couldnt turn the screen on out of idle. So I turned it off and then back on and I have a drivelock password on it and my keyboard wouldn't type. I can not put it into safemode because i can't get past the drivelock password. I'm thinking its a virus that uninstalled the software for the mouse and keyboard. Any Suggestions? Also are there any keyboards i could get that dont need to have to have software installed to use?

is the drivelock a bios password? if it is then i would say your keyboard has broken and may need to be replaced. does the laptop have any external keyboard connections? ps2 perhaps?

well it could be broke but none of my other buttons will light up like the mute or even the button to turn off or on the mouse pad so that has me wondering if the keyboard broke would that include everything else?

I'v always thought any exterior usb keyboard would require some small install to work

o and im not sure what a bios is i just know it comes up as soon as I start it up and it flashes compaq and is a blue rectangle that says enter password

okay i have a gateway and have been using a usb keyboard and since i have disconnected it my laptop keyboard types as if i am holding down my fn key as long as i press it while i type it types normally, 6ther w5se 5t ty*es 352e th5s.
HELP PLEASE
