IBM ThinkPad 600 new OS installation!

Hi:

I have my cousins IBM ThinkPad 600 with me which has a badly installed Win 2000 on it. I want to reformat this laptop and install WinXP on it. How can I access the Bios to change the laptop to boot from a CD? In a normal PC I can press Delete Key to get to the Bios, What do I do on a IBM ThinkPad 600?

Thanks,
AJ

.........

the bios is locked on intels processors.......just go boot up and go into my computer and left click there will be an option that says format click this. NOTE: do not do quick format. reformat the whole drive to FAT or NTFS. this will erase the whole harddrive so save any info on disks that u need. then from there pop in the xp cd and install it...you will need to reinstall alll the programs also.......im not a gebinius with computers but this should work..w/e is false here im sure someone will correct.

Thumbs up Fresh installation using IBM Thinkpad 600

Ok this is very simple.
Just insert the Operating system disk then opt for a fresh installation.
Enter necessary details for the software the computer will reboot and enter the normal boot from disk sequence.

600e doesn't have a bios-configurable bios, you need to do it from a windows app.

You don't need bios access to install a new OS though, just pop in the install disk and go ahead.

Wouldn't advice Windows XP for a 600e though, it doesn't have enough memory (and is not upgradable enough to add more). A proper win2k install will work, but I found that a custom compiled FreeBSD install with IceWM worked best.

Oh, and as for hardware upgrades. Not realistically possible. Buying a new laptop will be cheaper.
