Trying to find 8GB (4x 2GB) DDR SDRAM for ABIT AN8 32X motherboard

First time poster here.

ABIT AN8 32X motherboard specs:

# 184-pin DIMM Banking: 4 (4 banks of 1)
# Chipset: nVidia nForce4 SLI
# Error Detection Support: ECC and non-ECC
# Graphics Support: Dual PCI Express x16, SLI capable
# Max Component Density: 1024
# Max Unbuffered DDR SDRAM: 8192MB
# Module Types Supported: Unbuffered only
# Supported DRAM Types: DDR SDRAM only
# USB Support: 2.x Compliant

What is Max Component Density? Any resource where I can buy 2GB modules? I want to max the memory on the board. Can server memory be OK in desktop?

I googled your particular motherboard. It uses DDR2 ram no?

You can find 2GB modules ANYWHERE. You will find them conveniently in 4gb kits. Basically you would have to buy 2 packages of 4gb kits, each contains two 2gb sticks for a total of 8 gigs (4x2GB).

seach on these sites for reference:

newegg.com (US)
ncixus.com (US)
ncix.com (canada)

sorry dunno any other international sites

I thought it takes only DDR. Crucial says for ABIT AN8 32X

Maximum Memory » 4GB
Expansion Slots » 4
CPU Socket Format » Socket 939
Chipset » NVIDIA nForce4 SLI X16 (AMD)

Overall really confusing.

Motherboards.org site says

"ABIT outfitted the board with 4 DIMM (Dual In-line Memory Module) slots. This brings the memory supported on the memory to 4GB of unbuffered non-ECC DDR memory. AMD will move to DDR2 later in the year with their AM2 Socket, but at the moment, DDR memory is the only memory supported on the AMD platform."

Motherboards.org has specs: Note the memory type and maximum memory.

Your board does run DDR(184 pin) memory.
Yes it does support up to 8GB
DDR memory that you are looking for is rare and stupidly expensive.....
You are using or planning on using a 64bit OS so all that memory can be used right? 32bit OS's can not see that much memory making it useless.
AMD 939 was notorious for having issues with all four slots filled.

Thanks.
"AMD will move to DDR2 later in the year with their AM2 Socket"
How do I know mine is AM2 Socket?
I understand 32bit OS can not access 8gb memory. Just wanted to make it future proof. I guess I would just get another 2GB to bring total to 4GB for now.
Thanks for all the help.
