Question Sony Vaio Laptop TX Detect RAM Upgrade

Hello!

I have upgraded my Sony Vaio Laptop TX from 1 G to 2 G single chip. The system works fine but it does not detect the increase in RAM. It only shows 1 G of RAM and I have noticed no performance increases. It is a Vista system. Phoenix Bios. I have checked the start up but I cannot see how to force the memory recognition? Very detailed instruction would be appreciated!

Thanks soooo much! It is a great little machine but Vista runs like a slug.

first of all, is there 1 or 2 slots for memory. if there is 2 slots then i suppose you had 2x512mb before and you have upgraded to 2x1gb? one ram stick might not be setted properly. have you doubled checked that? also you could download cpu-z to see if it detects only one stick in single channel. try that first before opening your laptop
