Sli specific memory really worth it?

I recently just got this as an x-mas gift http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...N82E16820231122

and was just randomly looking around newegg and saw this

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...N82E16820227269

and was wondering since I have an evga 680i chipset board (and haven't oc'ed before but I'm a fast learner) would I really benefit from the sli ready memory?

I'm working on a review of this right now. Does it really add anything that a tweaker can't already get out of them, the max is the max of teh chips regarless if you have SLI ready or not in the ram. Is it a nice feature, yes, you have levels that it will be able to reach that is automatically done. It's nice, but doesn't really add anything you can't get with time out of your RAM.

the sli edition has slightly better timings and IIRC, it was EPP compliant.

otherwise, there should be pretty much no difference.

I will say that in regards to the Asus P5NT sli board that I own that they do make a difference where unlike say EVGA's sli board that is known to be such a robust memory OCing board, this board has for some reason or another refused to go above 975MHz. I can bring timings down to 4-3-3-4 but it will not go 1MHz higher even @ 5-6-6-18. I have tried at least three different brands and 6 kits altogether and come to the same conclusion every time. But with OCZ sli ram I am able to not only run it at 1066MHz but it also allows BIOS tweaks not only for the ram but the GPU too.

Another positive note is that not everybody will take the time to properly OC their ram as where this is absolutely designed to do just that. If anything though I look at them as a convenience if anything, it is not as if you have to pay more just b/c they are SLI certified, right?
