Quick question for simple upgrade
ok i know this is an old computer so please bare with me.. ok my computers memory specs are
The HP Media Center m260n Desktop PC comes with two 256 MB (512 MB total) PC2700 or better duel-inline memory modules. *Motherboard accepts DDR400/PC3200, DDR333/PC2700, or DDR266/PC2100 DIMMS. Dual channel supported only when identical pairs are used. *Motherboard contains four memory sockets in two pairs (sockets 1:3, and 2:4). *Upgradeable to a maximum of 4 GB (maximum of 1 GB DIMM per slot). *Motherboard requires a minimum of one 64 MB module. and im trying to upgrade to 4gb now i know it says 1gb per slot so can anyone point me to some good deals for memory because all i can find is 4gb 2gb*2gb and that wont work for me... or will i have to buy 4 single strips of 1gb.. thanks in advance.. appreciate it... |

yea i know but if i upgrade to lets say 2 gigs would it recognize the full 2 gigs or will it only recognize like 1.3 or something just as it would with the 4gb thats what i didnt understand.. thanks for the help and your reply man.. |

your pc will recognize all 4gb; however, windows will only recognize 3.2 gb. if you upgrade to 2gb, you will be able to use all 2gb of ram. if you don't care about dual channel, then upgrade to 3 gb of ram.

yea your right.. well im just gonna go with 2 gigs because im not really gonna use this computer for any major projects since im going to start building a new one in a month or so... and on that note i am not sure what should i go with should i go with the ocz or the gskill... to be honest with you i wanna go with gskill because they are cheaper since i dont care about this machine as long as it can improve its performance so what you guys think.. thanks once again |

You may go to newegg or fry's to find some good priced memory.
