PC2700 DDR VS. PC3200 DDR

Does anyone have an opinion on PC2700 DDR VS. PC3200 DDR?
I currently am running 3 x 256 PC2700 Samsung DDR and am considering upgrading to 2 x 512 PC3200 Geil DDR. Is it worth is? Will I see much of a performance increase?

Thanks

Are you overclocking or just running normal fsb? Do you plan on playing with the memory timings or speed or do you just want to drop the new sticks in and see a performance gain?

Instead of the Angry Editor, you get me... But I'm nice so I won't make any comments of n00b's posting in the wrong forums

I'm down to tweak anything within reason...meaning...I don't want it to fry. I am running the normal FSB which is 133 on an athalon xp2100. I am unable to get my samsung pc2700 ddr to run at 166mhz possibly because I have three dimms in. I am going to take out one and see if that helps

There is PC2700 out there with some insane timings. PC3500 will only help you if you plan on cranking your FSB to 200MHz+. Aside from that I would just get some really good PC2700. As far as running at 166 try it with just one module. If that doesn't work it is probably your mobo. By the way what mobo is it you have?

Thanks for the info.
Here are my specs:

MOBO: ASUS A7N8X DLX
CPU: AMD XP2100+ (Stepping..?)
Memory: 3x256 Samsung PC2700 DDR
Video: ATI 9500
2x80 GIG HD

I tried two dimms and was only able to get it to post if I set all the timings to user define.and Memory timings to 2.5-3-3-6 and it froze on the reboot. I tried on Dim and got the same results. I don't know anything about messing with voltage or weather the quality of my memory is becoming a factor. I would assume though that I should be able to run my memory at the 333mhz that it was made for. Pretty frustrated though...I'm tired of flashing my bios...I just want this stupid memory to run at the specified speed.

Is your CPU unlocked? Try lowering the Multiplier and raising the FSB so you can determine what your problem is. CPU top end or memory speed. That 2700 should run 166MHz no problemo.

with that mobo, i really suggest PC3200. you can get some really high FSB speeds w/ that mobo, so i suggest getting the 3200 instead. ok im beginning to repeat myself...

processor unlocked (im assuming its a pally?) you can lower that multi, actually, even though its locked i think you can lower it to like 11.5 or so. with that you'll be able to move your FSB up to 150MHz w/o OCing the processor at all! ofcourse if you unlock, you can get your FSB as high as you can w/o having the processor being the limiting factor.
