Packard bell laptop memory need some help
Hi
I just received a laptop from one of my mum’s friends, she has asked me to take a look and see if I can fix it. When she handed it to me she said they took it to PC World and were told it has a problem with the mobo.
So first thing I did was turn it on and it gave me the error code 1343. I did a quick search and found it has a phoenix bios and that error code means test memory base. I wasn’t entirely sure what that meant so I had a look at the ram just in case it had been tampered with or wasn’t properly inserted. But when I opened the cover I found nothing in there. Is it possible the ram is built onto the mother board and the slot on the bottom is just for an upgrade or has the ram actually been taken out?
The laptop is a Packard bell easy note s4 I don’t know much else about it.
I’m a bit of a noob when it comes to laptops I much prefer working with desktops but if anyone can shed some light it would be much appreciated.
Apparently it’s her son’s laptop and he’s written a book which is on the laptop so if worst comes to worst I can retrieve that off the hard drive. She did say they were planning on buying him a new laptop.
