Smile Memory Querie

Hi,
My computer currently has 1GB of RAM it is DDR2 33mhz i think. i looked up the mainboard stats and it says it can support up yo 4GB 533mhz DDR2 RAM. i was wondering if i could put 800mhz DDR2 RAM into the motherboard. Either with the existing RAM or replace the lot. I know i wont get the full power of the RAM but i just need more speed for my PC because it lags when i multitask.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers Daniel

Mixing RAM of different speeds is generally not advisable, but should work.

However, purchasing the DDR2 800MHz RAM really isn't worth it - it'll just rest down to DDR2 533MHz. You can probably save some money by just purchasing 533MHz DDR2.

However, RAM is not always the issue as far as multitasking performance.

thanks. unfortunately i can only get good prices on 667 and 800 ram. if i got 4x1gb ram cards at 667 mhz would my computer still function faster.

Thanks
