Help me out with my new memory problem.
Hey guys first time posting here, but this looked like a good knowledgeable forum to ask for help at so here I am
![]() I have an MSI-K9N Platinum (MS-7250) and until yesterday had 2x512MB DDR2-800 (PC-6400) memory modules running dual channel. I ordered these sticks from newegg: Kingston HyperX 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Desktop Memory - Retail I didn't read the reviews close enough, turns out they are DDR2-667 that CAN BE PUSHED TO RUN AT @ DDR2-800. Now, I went into my bios as per some of the reviewee's suggestions and I think I have set the correct settings, I took off auto timings and voltage and put the manual timings to 4-4-4-12 and either 2.0V or 2.1V for voltage, I also told it to push the clock to all DIMM slots regardless if they are populated, dunno if that matters... I have Everest running, and CPUID, and they report that the RAM clock is 400MHZ, but if you go to the individual new sticks, they report DDR2-667 still, but is that only in name and they are actually running DDR2-800?? In the benchmark tests in Everest my system performs very near Everest's benchmark for a system with MSI-K9N Plat, a 4000+ Dual core processor (I have a 3800+), and the same dual channel ram speed. Basically guys I'm trying to confirm that my new ram is actually running at DDR2-800 and not 667. What utility would show for sure what it's actually running at and not what it's rated to run at or what it's name is? Or would I be better off taking out my old, actual DDR2-800 RAM, and leave in my new stuff and make sure it's running at DDR2-800? I should also note that total ram I now have is 3 Gigs, and is setup like this for dual channel, or is this not correct? Slot1: 1 512MB ocz Slot2: 1 1024MB kingston Slot3: 1 512MB ocz Slot4: 1 1024MB kingston Thanks for your help guys I have to go run some errands, will check back in a few hours! |
