2 2gb sticks would be easier. when you throw 4 sticks of memory into a motherboard, things can get tricky and not work as well sometimes/

Thanks, and yes I'm aware that 32bit OS wont see it all, but hey, future-proof! =) The timings on the RAM stciks I'm comparing are identical, infact they are basically the same stick: same manufacturer. |

personally i don't think there would be any difference between the two.
and even if there were i don't anyone could notice...if there was a noticeable difference I'm sure I would have noticed it in some forum I doubt you really need to worry bout it If i were you though i would get the 2x2gb just so i could have a the free slots just my opinion, haven't done any research on it...

As long as they're all matched (in either case) the difference would be negligable, save the possible headache some systems give you when you attempt to install into all 4 bays. Everything is dual channel, so in essence having 4x1GB would be just like 2x2GB, because each channel is 2GB regardless.

4x1 is cheaper, so I think I will go that route. Dont really need to leave any slots open because needing more than 4gb is not realistic in the foreseeable future.
Thanks! |

What sticks are you getting exactly?
2x2 is so dirt cheap now.. If you really don't plan on upgrading at all 4x1 is fine.. as jka said though, sometimes with 4 sticks things just get trickier... I prefer 2x2 just for simplicity.. and the fact I'm used to AMD so 4 sticks is a no go there ![]()
