I just tried calling him but the phone service is down due to the storm. I'll try a cell number that I have but I'm not sure if it's still a good number. Of course, it's a strong possibility that cell towers in the area are down anyway.

Yup, Cy always dodges hell - I am sure he is fine.

Nothing yet. Almost all utilities and services in and around the disaster area are still down including phones and internet. It's very difficult to get communications in or out. Right now we're in holding pattern.

Hey Rob,
Truly I’m sorry to hear about the tragedy in Joplin. There’s no much that I can do from down here, (unfortunately, can’t donate because of some stupid credit card restrictions here in Argentina), but I’ll keep Cy and other people in my thoughts.

A Long Awaited Update
Hey guys,
The tornado that struck Joplin, Missouri hit very close to home for one of our own. Cy's house was directly in the path of the tornado and was completely leveled with him inside. The sudden onset of the storm didn't allow any time for him to reach the safety of a basement. (Even in storms of this size, basements are still dangerous as they form a vacuum as houses are moved off of their foundations.)
He managed to make it under his bed before the house collapsed on top of him. By the grace of God, the bed frame bought him some safety and the wasn't crushed beneath the weight of the house. He did suffer major injuries including a broken back.
This was a complete loss and nothing was recoverable.
After being rescued from the wreckage of his house, spent some time in the hospital. I'm not sure exactly how long. And of course there is a continuing road to recovery.
Cy got out of an upper body cast within the past few weeks and has relocated to Texas where he is currently trying to find work and a permanent place to live.
Given the situation, he doesn't get much time online. Last I knew, he still hasn't gotten a computer and probably won't be for some time as he faces the arduous task of rebuilding the essential requirements for life that we all take for granted.
If you are a believer in God, please take the time to say a prayer for our friend. He really needs those now more than ever. If you're not a religious person, maybe now is a good time to start.
As a personal request, I'm asking anyone who can offer any help to please step forward. I know he would never ask, but anything at all would be greatly appreciated by him. If you would like to make monetary donations, let me know and I can PM details on how you can do that. If you would like to help in other ways, please let me know and I will help make that happen. I will do my best to keep you all up to speed on his progress.
