dude I've run XP on these machines, no lie:
500 Mhz P3 128 MB RAM 400 Mhz P2 96 MB RAM 300 MHZ P2 64 MB RAM It'll run, trust me. But I'm not sure about the last one, I never remembered the settings in the BIOS when I looked at it a year ago. I've also run windows 98 on a 100 Mhz 24 MB RAM machine (was my backup machine) |

When it comes to Xp and Sdram you ideally need 256mb. Yep it will run with 128, 64 and even 32, but to have a stress less time on the thing 256 is your best bet as Xp generally takes 128 to run.
Like Anubis said, rid it of all the nice features, down to the bear graphix and keep up with the general maintenance of it and it will serv you well.

that's quite a good idea. you can get lal the avalable updates off M$'s site. you could make a disk for each OS too so you can help people with 98 and ME too.
a few other useful things are: http://www.download.de/downloads/d_...5359&tid2=17063. this is an XP style task manager for 9.x and it'll allow you to check systems to see if there's any unusual tasks running. http://www.pcinspector.de/file_recovery/uk/download.htm. this is a really good file recovery program (free too ).i haven't got time to post every tool i know now but il do a few more in a bit . |
