Wow, cable is soooo much slower than it used to be.... I'm supposed to be getting 15Mb/s but I'm getting 1. And I was complaining about DSL being limited.

Operating system/browser?
I was having a similar issue not long ago, and found it was due to WinXP's age. Turns out, networking settings in WinXP are by default set to optimize very low-latency, medium bandwidth links - think 10 Mbps LAN. Most modern browsers are aware of this and override WinXP settings, so users usually can't tell.
I started using Privoxy, and so it was Privoxy talking to WinXP, not the browsers themselves. Privoxy doesn't make the adjustments the browsers make; the upshot was that I started connecting out to the internet with the WinXP default settings, which turn out to be terrible over broadband WAN links. I was supposed to be getting about 15 Mbps; I often wasn't getting more than 3-5 Mbps.
So... the point of the rambling story: if you're on WinXP, you might want to look at optimizing the TCP/IP settings. I used TCPOptimizer which handles this in a pretty automated, easy fashion. Now I get right around what I should down, sometimes a few more in low-use periods.

I located my issue shortly after posting. The cable in the other room totally sucked. It was not only loosely connected, but very bent up and able to pull out of the wall.
Moved it to another room and it is as it should be. Although some things don't stream as well as they used to.... No big deal though, 2mb/s download speed vs the old 650mb/s.

I have finally acquired a EPA Section 608 Type I License! I can officially not only buy refrigerant (which doesn't require a license for the type that I need), but I am legally able to work on small appliances with less than 5 lbs of refrigerant!
This means that when I finish the chiller, I'll be able to charge it and maintain it in compliance with the appropriate laws.

In the sprit of it's all about me...
I just made it into the top 2 pages of posts. I am not saying all of my posts are great, but at least I am on here cruisading dev shed and folding (with no old members who are worth it giving rep). But I will continue as long as I can. Hopefully someone else will post a milestone before my next one.
I think dev shed is great and would love to see more of our more seasoned members visiting and posting again. You all have a lot more wisdom to contribute than me.

I finally realized a long time dream and setup my first RAID! I know, it's a tiny milestone, but for years I've loved the concept of RAID but have never been able to implement one due to finances.
This week I discovered my 640GB external drive that I was using for backups (go figure) is dead. Just keeps trying to spin up and never achieves full speed. To prevent future data loss I picked up two 1TB internal drives and configured them in a RAID 1 setup. It was super easy (I spent 80% of the time installing the drives into my case) and now I can rest easy knowing what is stored there is safe(r).
