Is Newegg trying to do TOO much?
Newegg started with the computer basics. They sold fundamentals for your computing needs and neat little gadgets for your whims. Then they moved on to sell TV's and home theater equipment. After all, a good techie has more than just a computer to scrutinize, compare specs and drool over.
Check the site out now, however, and you'll see designer jewelry, watches, power tools, vacuum cleaners and coffee makers. Most of these are sold from other retailers through Newegg (usually at less than "wow that's a good price" markup). But, does it compromise the name? Should I expect the same attention to detail, excellent service and no-hassle returns from another retailer advertising on Newegg's site? If there's a problem, will Newegg swoop in like a superhero and save the day? It really does make me wonder at what length Newegg is willing to go to make money. It's a business, sure. Will I be shopping there for my next electric razor? Not likely.
So what do you think? Has "The Egg" sold out, or taken on more than seems reasonable?
