Finite Mathematics

Im taking a summer course in finite math. I AM MATH RETARDED. I was looking for a "finite math for complete rejects" but all i could find was linear algebra, which seems close but from the contents looked alot more advanced.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what book would make finite easier for me?

It seems to me that finite math shouldnt be for retards, and should really be for people who know what theyre doing. As far as I know finite math extends all the way from Intro to Algebra to Calculus. Perhaps there is a more specific meaning?

Finite math usually involves probability and statistics, permutations and computations, Markov chains, linear programming and optimization, and matrix operations. Remember its finite, meaning infinity shouldn't really be coming into play.

Calculus is the study of infinites - what happens when we shrink the distance between two points to an infinitely small number, and play with them. Integrals are Riemann sums of infinitely small numbers. Derivatives are rates of change over infinitely small distances.

I personally don't recommend any book from the Schaum's series to study from - they really suck. Go to a book store, and read the first chapter of each book they have and see which one you like best. Some books spoonfeed, others expect you to think a lot, and there's a lot in between.

You'll get a text book with the class... And a teacher... USE THEM.

Well im not actually math retarded, I was just trying to emphasize that I'm looking for additional information to what is supplied by the teacher. My main concern is the accellerated nature of the course. Basically I just want a second perspective to what is offered, in case I have trouble with any particular area. The reason I look for the "for retards" variety of books is that they are so basic and immediate that they are perfect as a supplement to a course.
