I just stumbled upon this thing http://usb.brando.com.hk/prod_detail.php?prod_id=00642 which claims you can use older socket 478 P4s in newer LGA775 boards...

I have a hard time believing it would work as expected .. with the s478 being DDR based and 775 being DDR2 based - there's gotta be something wrong in that alone...

edit: nevermind - no onboard memory controller.

I shouldn't see why not, all the bus connections would still be there. Probably ruins overclocks, but who cares?

I would prefer it to be a 775 to 478 adapter though, haha

I would get it but after looking at some of the requirements....


Function and Applicable Scope:

1. The card is applicable for the two kinds of the Intel 478 CPU kernels ,that is the Intel Northwood kernel and Prescott kernel.
2. The card requires that the chipsets on the Intel 775 mother boards must support the related Intel 478 CPU.
3. Please refer to the detail description for the varieties of supportive Intel 478 CPU.
4. Please refer to the detail description for the varieties of supportive 775 serial mother boards.
5.When you use the card, please set the correct parameters according to the products manual.
6.Please contact with our sales if you meet any problem
