Single or multi core

I have a card inside my PC that is connected to a movable satellite dish. I am looking to upgrade the card to HD card so I can watch HD channels. The card I have seen says you need at least a 3.4 GHz processor. If I had say a dual core 2.4 GHz processor would that be enough or would I need a single core 3.4 processor

If your card is a few years old...they are probably talking about older CPU Cores...Like the pentium D's
Todays CoreDuo architecture is that much superior.

What CPU do you have now??
And what are your system specs now PSU/HHD's/Rom's etc.etc.

Agreed. Even the cheapest Core 2 Duo processors will out perform almost all the Pentium 4 processors (maybe excluding the extreme editions, but I have no empirical data to back any of that).
