P4 2.54 GHz,Mercury PI845GML-P Version 6 M/B

Hi,

I have a assembled PC, P4 2.54 GHz,Mercury PI845GML-P Version 6 M/B. Currently I have 2 DDR RAM 256 MB + 512 MB.(333 MHz).
I think it will only support 333 Mhz Speed RAM, not 400Mhz

How can I upgrade it to 2 GB DDR2 RAM. Does it need to change the M/B.
I want to use the same P4 2.54Ghz.

Pls suggest.

Thanks
Sree

wow you joined quite a few tech forums with this same info and question...

based on what I saw, there was a mention of one board, and only one board that has the Socket 478 with DDR2 that is also compatible with your CPU.

Honestly I would suggest just getting an E8400 CPU, a new motherboard (with the P45 chipset) and memory. You could have all 3 for under $300 and use the rest of the hardware you already have (unless it is a Dell with its proprietary power supply, in which case you would also need a new power supply with ANY replacement board).
