A and B had SERIOUS heat issues. C sorted some of it out, but it wasn't really acceptable until D. and then they kept improving from there.
there isn't a specific problem with the C revisions, it just isn't AS good as the Ds and Es.

I agree, but unfortunately, the larger vendors buy them in quantity at different times, so it pretty much comes down to availability at that moment. If you want the latest version, make sure you're purchasing from an Authorized Intel Distributor. Since they have to move the highest volume to be in that program, they would have the newest stock.
