nobody has replied until now. either nobody knows or it cant be done?
i am sure it can be done, since my motherboard ships with an energy saving software which controls voltage, multipler as well as amount of phases used to power the cpu... just how to access those features and rewrite them to suit my purposes is beyond me. On the p45 line, Gigabyte has an energy saver tool which supports overclocking, but that utility is for p45 boards only. it bugs me. a lot. |

Well, my experience tells me that this sort of thing is most often applied to laptops, and not desktops. Maybe therein lies the problem.
I'm currently using RMClock to control multipliers and voltages, and I've also used Notebook Hardware Control to great success on Windows XP and more limited success on Vista. That's about all the advice I can offer - but then again, I'm running a Core Duo laptop. If nothing else you could try shooting some emails out to the devs of these projects and see what they say. |

i know, but what i do not understand is how a desktop can have speedstep - which is identical to the one employed in laptops, just less agressive, but not one program can actually access the multiplier values within windows....
i do have vista 64 bit, so that MIGHT have something to do with it, but i honestly doubt it.... |

I'm not sure what that's all about, either.
But I have just been noticing how Vista and RMClock seem to fight - things worked much better under XP. Maybe I'll be making a switch back. |

personally, for my laptop, i use crystalcpuid. works like a charm.
Of course, you have to set vista to not play with your cpu clocks, like tell it to keep it at either min or max on both battery and ac. vista WILL take over the second you switch and set the laptop to the setting in it's configuration - the setting you chose, but atleast it wont be constantly meddling with your settings. |
