Snap requires a minimum 1366x768 resolution. A lot of laptops should support snap but even if they do snap will be of limited use because of snap's own limitations.
Snap functions something like snap in Windows 7. It will only work with two applications at once. Even then only one will be useable at a time because one gets most of the screen while the other gets much less. Snap will probably be more useful on large screens with more resolution than the minimum.
I have Windows 8 installed on an old tablet laptop bought in 2006. The specs are:
Toshiba Tecra M7-S7331
Screen: 14.1-Inch Wide Touch Screen
Resolution: 1440 x 900
O/S: Windows 8 Enterprise (90-day Trial)
Here are examples with snap being used:
Left side: Internet Explorer 10 (metro version)
Right side: Internet Explorer 10 (desktop version)
Note only two configurations were possible as shown in the following two screenshots:
