E8400 vs Opteron 165(stock)

No this ain't what you're thinkin' mates, it's a power consumption question. I have a 580Watt Hiper Type-R Modular Power supply and I'm currently running this

CPU: AMD Opteron 165 @ 1.8GHz 2MB L2 cache
RAM: 3GB(512MBx2, 1GBx2) DDR400 @ 166MHz
MB: ASUS A8N5X Rev1.1
GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD3870
HD: 1 160GB IDE Hard disk, 1 250GB SataII Hard Disk
SPU: 1 Audigy 2, 1 Audigy SE
PSU: HIPER Type-R 580Watt (630Watt Max.)

My question is, could someone give me at the very least a power comparison chart between the power consumption of my CPU and an Intel E8400. Or if someone could tell me if this system would work with my Power supply

CPU: Intel Core2Duo E8400 @ 3GHz 6MB L2
RAM: 4GB(2x2GB) G.Skill DDR800(eventually I'll go 1066)
MB: ASUS P5K SE
GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD3870
HD: 1 160GB IDE Hard disk, 1 250GB SataII Hard Disk
SPU: 1 Audigy 2, 1 Audigy SE
PSU: HIPER Type-R 580Watt (630Watt Max.)

I have fried one too many power supplies via overloading them to take a chance at ruining a good one.

It'll work Don't know exact power requirements for the Core 2's, but that PSU will work more than fine as long as the amperage on the rails is decent

It should be fine if that is a decent PSU.

Shouldn't be a prob.......If you look in my Sig I have an Xeon E3110.......which is the same as the E8400.
I've also got 3 Drives/Raptor/ HHD /Sound Card and my 8800GT is OC'ed.

I know the HEC is a cheap PSU but mine has been running for 2 1/2 years......no dipp on the 12 volt line (so far).
I like them so much I bought 2 more one in my other comp and one for my next build next month.
And they run 24/7 for DEV Folding

If interested you can get them HERE...HEC PSU's

The E8400 is a 65W CPU, the Opteron 165 is 95W so that PSU should be fine.
