![]() The average clock being seen on air is 4500MHz ![]() These are being done on retail boards w/ no mods and voltage under 1.5v. These are truly monsters! They are suppose to retail for $183 but due to demand you will see them at about $210~220 for now. The E8500 is suppose to drop in the next week or so w/ quads coming in the next month. The results are showing as ram and motherboard FSB walls are the only thing holding these CPU's back. I have seen enough Orthos stable screenies at 4400MHz w/ load temps in the low 50's to make me pass out. Super Pi is so close to being a thing of the past. TO break 9 seconds on air is just disgusting. But one of thing that has come to light is that once you go over 1.6v w/ these chips you can kill them. I wish I could of gotten a warranty on mine ![]() |

You are right about the quad. Especially in 3D benchmarks w/ the new video cards out and about. I could not beat what I was pushing at 3500MHz w/ the quad with duals running almost at 4GHz. We will see though about how well they perform soon enough.... |

Meh.. I'm just in denial.......
Anywho... Super pi isn't almost a thing of the past.. Super pi 1m is almost a thing of the past... 32M will probably take over for 1m pretty soon, when it comes to flat out speed, and then I say they make 1b to replace 32m ![]() Anywho super pi 1m will keep going for awhile... I don't see a chip breaking 1s that soon.. ![]() |

Is the list you were looking at? Asus 45nm compatible boards If you do plan on getting one I will buy back the E6600 from you.(will have to charge a restocking fee though) ![]() Don't think it would scale to well with the memory controller on that board though. ![]() |

What wouldn't scale well? The e8400?
And brian ya.. thats the list, but have a look at this one... Different language but you can still see that p5w dh deluxe is listed. |

They might of just forgot to add it to the english version?? Regardless there is no reason why it would not support it.
As for scaling, think about it. The highest I could ever go up on that board was 450FSB no matter what the cooling or CPU. With an E8400 that would work out to 450x9 4050MHz. Now that would be just fine and dandy but that FSB on the board was a "I can't believe it made it in to BIOS" FSB and was anything but stable. The CPU you have has seen FSB's of 550~560.(It's not the CPU holding it back) Just for shits and giggles, have you lowered the multi just to see how high you could push the FSB w/ that board? bottom line, unless there was something w/ the recent BIOS updates(They must hold the record w/ that board) I don't recall any CPU I have owned ever being orthos stable over 405. Now that does equate to 3600, but at the same time it is holding back the potential of what it can really do. |
