E6750 Core Temp

I just overclocked it to 3.0ghz. I just raised frequency to 375mhz. I did a torture test for 8 hours, ran computer game. No issues, no errors. Now I didnt turn off speed step or that other one. So my cpuz does say 6x multiplier when not running under any load, but then shoots up to 8x when i do the prime torture test. No problems there either so not bothering switching it to disable it. Do you think I should disable it? Why run on 8x if not doing anything? Saves power i guess. Now my core temp reads at idle 36/37. It shoots up to 59/60 when under full load. Its the stock heatsink, is this fine or should i get the artic freezer 7?

I have the same core, and i used to get around the same temperatures with the stock heatsink.
High temperatures aren't particularly good for CPUs, as they are less tolerant to heat than GPUs, so I bought myself a zalman 9500 and temps are around 20-25C* IDLE, and 30-35C* full load.
Arctic freezer is good though, but, if you have that spare cash, i'd advise you to buy a zalman.
Btw, i overclocked mine to 3.4Ghz, 425 Bus speed.

my artic freezer pro is coming today, well see how it works. I actually opened my window for the cold breeze and it idles at 33-35, but still underload at around high 50s. well see how this aftermarket HS works. do you think i should disable speedstep? I know its power savings, but it would be pointless to disable it and always run at full speed even if idle. I have no stability issues or anything. I think i might just leave it alone.

No, I'd advise you not to disable speed-step, as it would mean lower temperatures, and less power used.

am just saying, dont disable speedstep, as speedstep would help lower overall power used, and result in lower temperatures.

i just installed the artic freezer 7, now to make the side case go back on, i had to take off that funnel piece. Does this matter? It wouldnt go back on, the new fan was in the way. So now i started it up, i idle at 26. So that is like a 7 degree difference. Does that side funnel piece really make it that much cooler. Why would this case do that to not make a freezer 7 fit. Its the cooler master one with black and blue front sides.

i just looked at the core temps again, when i first started it up, it was 26 or so. Now its idling at 32. So basically this really didnt make a big difference to get. Well i just did torture test just to see what it would go up to. I did it for like 5 minutes and it set around 48/50. I dont know whatever.
