Even then what quads were compared? Were they running at the same frequencies? If the clocks were the same but it was dual vs quad, then it would gain, if it's a slower quad vs a faster dual core, then it should minimized the difference.
I'm not sure on any of these questions, just wondering.

I must disagree...I bought my 7900GT and both my 8800Gt's from Ncix Canada. As long as you register the product within 30 days of purchase you R covered. When I had probs with my 7900GT...I did get an upgrade to 7900KO...received DOA 2 X's on that...they then sent me a GX2 7900...which after a week one PBC died...after alittle (a lot) of complaining they cross-shipped me (which they say they don't do for Canadians) a 7900GTX (which stil works) + refunded me all my shipping costs ($105)I remember about amonth ago some kid came on these forums putting down EVGA,because he "forgot" to register his card...Brian y set him straight on EVGA ![]()

Thanks for your replies. I really appreciate it. I think I have narrowed down to Core 2 Duo processor. I will be buying C2D 3GHZ. For moderate gaming and watching movies or so this should be good enough. Just trying to figure out a good motherboard that would go well with this. Do you think a DDR3 would be a lot better or should I stick to DDR2. Someone recommended me this MBoard - http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products...?ProductID=2921 Which Motherboard should I go for ? is this okay? I live outside the US and here prices are a tag higher. But thats ok, just want my current config to be optimum and last for 2 years or so. Regarding games, I try a mix variety of games like from FPS - far cry 2, call of duty , Fear 2 to RTS like Red Alert 3, AOE 3 to War type like Silent Hunter 4. So on... As I will be buying a Geforce GTX 260 card, I hope my pc becomes a good gaming one. (Oh man, i would need a new PSU also). |

I wonder why is PSU so important? Why can't a local PSU which can give 500 watt be used (costing around $10). Though I will be buying a cooler master 600watt psu for $65 but just wanna know the reason. Regarding my previous post, I need a MB that supports PCI-E 2.0 and if possible DDR3. Can I get a name, the link I gave supports DDR2 and PCI-E 1.0 i guess. |

Think of the PSU as the Heart of your computer...if it can't pump the juice, your going nowhere !!! A Generic PSU with 600 watts and 28 amps on the 12 volt rail(s) will NOT be as good as a Brand name PSU with say 500 watts and 39 amps on the 12 volt rail. And with a GTX 260 you will need a good PSU (min 36 amps )...be prepared to spend approx $100...could be less if you catch a good sale Recomended Manufactuers Antec Coolmax Enermax Fortron FSP OCZ PC P&C Seasonics Sparkle Tagan Thermaltake to name a few Last edited by PaPa_Capinuraz : July 14th, 2009 at 11:02 AM. |

You're right, I stand corrected. Here's the breakdown of the warranties though.

http://www.evga.com/support/warranty/ I wish I had known that before I bought my 250 GTS, I could have gotten a 9800 GTX+ for $10 less and had a lifetime warranty instead of 2 years. Oh well, the likelyhood it'll die is pretty slim anyways.

I am getting a Coolermaster PSU for $65 and they say its 600 watt. I dunno the amps or anything else. What should I do ? How should I go about buying a good PSU? |

Like I posted earlier the PSU you need MUST have a min of 36 Amps.
Not that your card needs that all the time...but at times your whole comp will need a good portion of that Is this the one your getting ? I know this one is more $$$ but just look at the model. Notice it has 2 12 volt rails with 18 amps on each equaling 36 amps. Talk to the person from who you ordered it and see if he/she can send you a link so you can look at the specs ![]() Last edited by PaPa_Capinuraz : July 14th, 2009 at 03:45 PM. |

Most new PSU have fan on top which throws air from top of case. My case setup and location will not allow this. I need a PSU that will throw air backwards.
So now I am kinda in a fix. |

Thanks, though I am getting a coolermaster extreme power psu 600 watt, but i was told croshair psu 450 watt would be better. Is it true? Though crosshair is now easy to find here and is more expensive. |
