heaps of tiny tips for soldering smd at electronics stores. there is usually one at major shopping centres. you can always call a pc shop or tv repair shop and ask them where a good electronics shop is.
when soldering smd you must be quick. dont heat the component for more than ~2 seconds with a 25w iron, ~1.5 seconds with a 40w iron and ~1 second with a 60w iron. if you overheat the component it can die straightaway, or at best it will have a shortened lifespan. if the joint is not good enough allow at least 30 seconds for the part to cool before re-soldering. The 30 second minimum cool down rule should be kept between soldering each "leg" of the component. you can have a hand free to hold the component with tweezers by pre-tinning the pcb where the component has to be soldered. If you make bridges they can be easily removed with desolder braid/wick and start again! it's hard to overheat pcb's but if you heat them long enough the copper will lift off! it takes at least 5 seconds on tracks ~1mm thick, and at least 10 seconds on tracks 2mm thick. |

i didnt start the small components yet because I am afraid i am going to mess up if i am using improper tools.
I am dev a diy mp3 player, and try to solder the mp3 decode chip on the pcb board, but the soldering parts of the chip is so small. so i wonder are there any more small soldering tools(smaller than 1/64) on the market. |

When working with smd flux (LINK) is the most important part.
