Nokia 770

Since I'm new here and couldn't find anybody remarking about these within the last several months...


Anybody else got one? This thing has amazing WiFi, Opera Browser, and runs a native linux. Sound is amazing for such a small device, and it excels at what it's designed for: Internet Browsing (typing is pretty easy if you have experience using PDA touch-screen keyboards).


I'm still learning various things about it, but I prefer it bigtime over my X50.

It's nice to see some new members generating content!

Do you have a camera? It'd be cool to see some pics of it in action.

I was looking at those when I decided on getting a Palm T|X instead, I read alot of different reviews, both good and bad. I think I would still like to have one. It seems like it would make a great "living room" / "coffee shop" browser in lieu of a full blown laptop. Also I'm sure it is just a matter of time before the Linux gurus write/port some emulators (MAME, SNES) and what not.
Also, the retail price is kinda steep ($299), but they can be had for super cheap on Ebay ($100-250)...

Anyway am still researching, if I stumble on anything interesting I will post it for ya...

The 770 is excellent for browsing, and there's already nifty little support group out there for it.

I'll be DL'ing DOOM soon (sometime this weekend), but I need to get a larger CF card for it- my largest one is only 128meg

I'll dig up some pictures of it in action (don't expect miracles- I'm no photgraph-artiste).

The only thing that can really compete with it offhand are UMPCs and top-tier PDAs for browsing- off course those two genre of gadgets are more bonafide tools than a nifty little tech gadget. I'll add I don't really use my X50 much anymore- though with all the new apps and freeware, I should.

One more thing- I'm fairly certain the future of mobile computing for the masses will generally be descended from devices such as the 770 (and 800)- why? UMPCs are far more expensive- for specialists they are ideal, but for gadget geeks like myself, the 770 suffices (I need to get a newer phone so I can connect via GSM network).
