maybe you should back up your claims about iTunes being spy-ware. iTunes is 100% spyware free and why would it have spyware? it comes from a company who makes the safest common OS(that doesn't inclued all you linux junkies out there). Also .mp3 can be just as good as .acc but it will be much bigger, .aac is CD quality audio without the giant size. I would love to see .aac go to DVD-Audio quality with the same size but DVD-quality is very rare and very big hense why it needs a DVD.

So lets talk about your Rio Karma shall we?
. It doesn't have the mass popularity the iPod has
. I personally know people that have had a Karma and it stopped working and the couldn't get a replacement so they went with an iPod
. 20Gb Karma equals 10,000 .WMA at 64Kbps, 15Gb iPod equals 3,700 songs(type not specified)
. Karma battery life=15 hours iPod battery life 8+hours
. Same weight
. The Karma is shorter, wider, and fatter then the iPod
. Both have 160 x 128 px screens however the Karma has 16 shades of Gray and the ipod only shows 3 however setting the contrast allows for thousands of shades

Well it looks like the Karma has the iPod beat, also its the same price as the iPod 15Gb
Some nice things about the iPod family is that iPods can go up to 40Gb or down to 4Gb with the iPod Mini, and again its mass popularity. I know that in my school if you had an iPod people thought it was cool but if you had some other .mp3 player people wondered why you didn't just go with an iPod. I know first hand how the looks of the horribly priced iPod Mini get attention, if only I ordered a color like pink...

you may ask why i went with the 15Gb iPod and not the 20Gb? well if you do your a moron, there is no 20Gb iPod, only 4,10(not any more)15,30,40Gb Gen3's, no one cared abot Gen2, and the 5Gb gen1.

Yeah there was a 20 gig iPod for about 9 months, then they replaced it, with 15 gig.

Yeah I have a 20gb iPod....it is soooooo good.

I heard they break pretty easily though so I look after my baby....

It's a shame that I have 27.6 Gb worth of music...I can't even fit all of it on my iPod....!

BTW I own both the Karma and iPod G3 20GB. The sound quality is definately better with the Karma, has better controls, and comes with Sennheiser headphones.

well I noticed one thing, the reason the Karma can hold so many songs is the quality is only 64Kbps when the songs on an iPod(the ones apple sells through iTunes and the majority of .mp3 files) are at 128Kbps with the exeption of spoken words like an audio book which is at only 32Kbps

The Karma can hold any bit rate mp3. I'm currently using either 320kbps CBR or target 256kbps VBR.
