Unhappy Computer wont detect ipod unless all usb devices are unplugged excluding the mouse.

For some reason my 5th or 5.5th generation 30gb ipod video will be detected by my computer as long as only my mouse and the ipod are the things plugged in. it isn't that big of a problem but it's a real inconvenience. I'm thinking it might have to deal with the amount of power getting to the usb ports? But I'm not sure. Right now i have my speakers, a mouse, a printer hooked up. What do you think is wrong and what do you recommend?

most likely a power issue. perhaps a purchase of a powered USB hub would be in order?

please make your own thread, your asking about a different issue altogether...

regarding the ipod, as moist said are you using a hub of some sort? are you plugging straight into the USB ports? are you using the front side USB ports?

if all else fails get a firewire cable and card and you'll be laughing lol, so much faster than USB (yes i know that's debatable)
