I know a lot of bar codes but I am using linux and specialized printers (termal POS printers). Most POS printers can print bar codes.
Unfortunately, most bar code generators seems to be comercial and none of them are good enough (to my standards) and I am not willing to to advertise them. What specific bar code standard you are interested in ? (btw. I am also using zebex 1050 at my job )EDIT: If it is not urgent (I am little short on time lately), if you are willing to use linux (because I have no time to loose time to learn windows programming for free ), if I am familiar with barcode format you need and if you have linux compatible printer, I am willing to make basic C++ program for barcode printing for you.Last edited by mphill : July 10th, 2007 at 02:28 PM. |

Code 128 would work fine. Do I need any drivers for this z-1050? No software came with it and when I plug it into my computer i get a malfunction message.
thanks a lot for the help though. I'm an intern and my boss is hounding me about things from barcoding to what software to buy to fixing printers. This helps a lot. |

As far as I know you don't need any drivers. It works as keyboard (hmm, you need keyboard driver, of course).
You can try with this, looks OK to me and is not that expensive: link |

That's what I was guessing. My boss is obsessed with the notion that barcodes just print out of nowhere without barcoding software. And my computer has been a pain today so as soon as my co-worker is done installing ubuntu I'm gonna try his.

Yea, I just want to see if I can get a computer to read this thing. I'm pretty sure our thermal printer is set up on a linux server but like I said, my boss keeps telling me we don't need to buy software......and I keep saying "I think we do." Oh well. Apparently it worked for our previos NetAdmin, but he got fired for stealing, so he may have easily downloaded a torrent of some software or something. I might have to put this on the back burner though. Thanks again for the help.
