Aaxatech P2 2nd pico projector first look..

I ordered my P2 at http://www.aaxatech.com/products/p2_pico_projector.htm. It's the only place I could get it from as there was a waiting list for this item, but it was well worth the wait. The P2 comes in a decent sized box, you'd expect that with all the accessories it comes with; tripod, remote, battery/charger, even VGA and USB cables. The battery and cradle is an interesting feature since you can charge a battery while using the other one if you have more than 1. I found a compatible DC adapter at home and left the battery to charge while I ran the projector from the supplied adapter.

The P2 does not disappoint. I already expected that I'd have to run it in a dim/dark room for maximum performance after seeing the PK101 and MPro110. However, the P2 is 33lumens, 3x brighter and has a higher resolution, 800x600 to be exact.

Here's an image taken off one of the first gen projectors. This is only an 18" image also, but notice the lack of clarity, this was downcoverted from a higher resolution display though.

but here's the same image, but 48" on a P2:

It may seem a bit apples and oranges to use different sizes, but I think it demonstrates the usability of 33lumens better along w/ 800x600 resolution.

It feels like the P2 has come a long way from the first gen projectors, but as we all know with technology, change and improvements are right around the corner. Hopefully Aaxa keeps to their philosophy of increasing lumens and resolution above all else in the next model, that would be nice.
