Who knows alot about watercooling :D?
Well I am looking into a water cooling rig for my amd 3700+ san diego and my 7900gt. So I need a good set up to help me push this thing to the max and keep the temps low. I was thinking about 1/2" tubing for the max water flow have a few ideas for things but would like to keep this as cheap as possible, but don't really mind spending a little extra if it makes the difference, if it could be around $200ish to $250 that would be awesome. I have been talking a little bit to like Snod Blatter and a few other people and have a decent idea of what I am looking for.
Pumps- Want a good one thats not super expensive, I have a seasonic s12 600watt psu so would prever a dc 12v pump and just run it off of that. I was looking at the Hydor L30 and L35 , don't know if the extra few dollars is worth the extra water flow for the L35. Ok so I found the l35 for just about the same price as teh l30, so will most likely go with that one unless someone can give me a reason not too. Water Blocks- Now snod says that those pumps have some pretty good pressure and could benefit from a jet impingment block so I was looking at the Danger Den RBX, one of the options for the block is Accelerator Nozzles should I look into those as well. As for the 7900gt it would be nice to have the NV-78 or a similar water block but can't really justify spending $125 on a single waterblock, especially since the 7900gt gddr can pretty much run with no after market cooling, and some ram sinks and a good fan should do the trick. So I need some suggestions for this. So that is pretty much what I have, I am still looking for other components to go with this and could use some tips on like what would be a good radiotor to get, tubing if that matters much, reservoir even though that I would assume is more personal preference. Thanks for all the help in advance. Ok I was looking at the danger den radiators just because they have a nice selection, anyone have any experience with any of the black ice series?

Ya I thought about pelts but they can get rather expensive, I mean you have what like $40 for the pelt and then another however much for a psu just to run some of them. Well the nv-78 is a little pricey for me, at least for now, what would be a good alternative to that.
As for the radiator a 2x120mm should fit in my case, and I should be able to find a place for my pump inside my case, even if I have to get creative, if not well I have been wanting another case anyway, and you can pick up a basic full tower for relatively cheap now. But I will make sure to measure everything before I purchase it. You said danger den has good radiators, any specific one because they have tons of them, like I said I was looking towards the black ice series, but even then they have like 6 more catergories with another 2+ 2x120mm rads, does it really make that big of a difference from one to another. |

I only used the BlackIce, I haven't tried their Heater Core or Thermochill rads. The Heater Core look kinda cool price wise though.
The best rad I have ever use was a 65 mustand rad. I hear corvette makes nice ones too ![]() |

Haha ya I have heard that car rads work amazing for watercooling, but I don't really have the room to have a car rad set up so...
Ok but about the black ice radiators the black ice series has a lot of different ones, single pass, two pass, they have a pro series etc. seen here . They all seem to be relatively similar at least the first few ones. Like what about this one, or like which one have you used, or will it really even make that big of a difference. |

I had a homemade W/C setup for years, and spent hundreds of $$$.........personally I think they're a waste of money compared to what you can get today with HEATPIPE technology.
With W/C you gotta worry about pumps/fans going You gotta worry about leaks etc.etc. I had my system biult with a small bar fridge, that the water would also circulate through the freezer after the rads. Worked good for a while......then pump started going.......blah,blah.blah. IMO you should look into Heatpipe Cooling its the SHIZZ Baby for ur Videocard: HERE For ur Northbridge Cooler:Read the 3rd review its mine HERE For ur CPU: HERE My Review here HERE The main reason for my Reco is .....You have basically the same system. In a nutshell my: CPU never higher than 38* cel Northbridge never higher than 36* cel Videocard never higher (so far) never higher than 38* cel All for bout $140.00 Canadian funds........And I don't have to worry bout pumps or extra fans dyin' on me anymore. Cause a GOOD W/C sys will cost $200+ if you want good Quality for all 3 of those chips JMO ![]()

I have looked into heat pipe cooling but quite frankly its not the best option for my computer, believe me I have been looking into cooling for a long time. Yes you do have a very similar set up to mine, but my computer, I don't know if yours is, is oc'ed further, runs 24/7 under 100% load all the time. I mean I have aftermarket cooling on my computer it just gets too hot, I want the most efficient cooling method, and thats not just purely temps, its also how much heat the cooling can dissipate which there water wins hands down. I just have weighed my options read tons and tons of reviews talked to different people and I ended up on water. Thanks though I had a feeling it would be brought up I just would rather go with wc.

No Prob just a suggestion.
Well I'm only Overclocked to 2.672 @ a 1:1 ratio .............learning about dividers right know. And Yes I leave it on 24/7..........Folding for a cure you know!!! I also leave the side of my comp off, with an 12" house fan blowing in........so theres no DEAD spots. Plus it is easier to clean. Put it does take a while to get dusty.............One of my kids has asthma.....so I got a heppa filter in the c/a unit. Again just a suggestion ![]() |

Ya I know it was just a suggestion thanks, well I can see those temps if you have a 12" fan blowing on it, I don't want to have to do that with my comp. I already have a zalman 7000b right now, with 3 120mm and 2 80mm in my case, 1 of the 120mm is blowing on the cpu and the other is sucking the hot air out right next to it, tons of airflow and I still hit 47C normally its like 43 depends on the room temp.

The best block I have ever used is the Asetek Antarctica Those Asetek know their shit about cooling..
I also have always perfered the Swiftech pumps over the Hydor. good luck bball |

Dang the swiftech is more expensive, its just racks up doesn't it.
![]() Ok the main thing that I really need is like danger den has tons and tons of radiators, I can fit a 2x120mm in my case, but there are still probably 10+ different models, what should I look for in the radiotor. Oh and for my gpu I was looking at the danger den Maze 4 or should I look for a asetek gpu wb as well. |

Here is another thorn in your side the Voltage regulator Its like how most passive cooled mobo are now, with a watercooling setup you need extra fans. The voltage regulator without the VGA fan will get hot. Another thing to think about. Isnt it nuts that you might need to water cool the freakin voltage regulator on a VGA. ARGH....but in the long run with all the OCin we do it will be worth it.

Ok guys little update this is what I have so far.
Hydor L35 Pump - I looked at teh swiftech buts its like an extra $20 and I saw a review of the l30 and a slightly older swiftech and the hydor one, if anyone has personal experience with either it would be much apreciated. Danger Den RBX CPU Block - Most likely that one, or this one , the only thing is with the asetek I would need to drop down my tubing size, once again, I know justin you said the asetek was great, anyone know anything about the danger den. Danger Den Maze 4 GPU Block - Really wanted the nv-78 but can't get myself to spend $125 for a block, these and some zalman ramsinks should do the trick. Radiotor - still have no clue whats the real difference between the different models of these, was looking at the 2x120mm xtreme style ones, don't know if they are any good. Black Ice X-Flow Xtreme II and Black Ice Xtreme II Radiator Swiftech Reservoir - Cheap, small, can put in an easy to get to place to refill, either that or a t-line fillport but this is probably the way I will go. Tubing- Will probably just go pick it up at the hardware store along with some clips unless getting something like this Tygon anti kink tubing is worth it. By the way, what does everyone use to clamp their tubing down, any suggestions? Liquid- Some distilled water, probably with some uv or other colored coolant just for some eye candy. I think that is it, tell me what you guys think, or leave suggestions. Oh yes also, I have decided to build this water cooling kit externally, I have an old smaller micro atx case that I am going to repaint, strip down a little, and clean up, that should give me lots of room to work and gives me plenty of room for a 2 x 120mm rad. I just posted the regulator as a "wow we need one of thoses" kinda thing. The Asetek block has great flow and it channels the water really well. the in sit right on top of the core so it cools bigtime. Either of those rads will rock but get or make a shroud for your fans. You might want to get some Anti Algae fluid, dont know how long before the little buggers show up but better safe then sorry. Since you are going to do this external get one of these and here are the kind of Clamps you want. Looks good bball
