Page 5 - Starting my chiller project today

no, no...I'm still checking in. I haven't a clue how it all works though. I'm trying to learn as you go, haha. Keep at it, its going to be awesome!!

Yea looks gret. Perhaps you could explain what each part does, where it goes. Maybe at the end put a post with a near step by step guide, with links to your other posts which will have pictures etc. PS, how much have you spent on this project so far?

Well I'll go through that as soon as I begin the assembly of the chiller. Ohh its gonna be soo much fun! Just gotta find where to get nitrogen so I can nitro purge while I braze.

Term: Nitro Purge - Nitro Purging is a technique done while brazing to purge the atmosphere from a system. This is best to do with a fully assembled system. The nitrogen will prevent Copper Oxidation inside the lines from the heat.

Copper Oxidation - When you braze, the copper oxidizes, and flakes off in the form of a black soot. Purging will prevent this from happening on the inside of a copper pipe promoting a clean system.

Alright, made a triple evaporator. Coiled 1/4" tubing and shuffled it together rightly. Then ran a smaller coil through the middle.I'm thinking about putting something in the center. Maybe getting a pipe and capping it, then brazing it into the middle of the central coil to promote flow over the coil.

Alright, tell ya what I'm gonna do.

I've got a website all set-up for this. I'm going to start working on it. I'll do my work off of that. When its all ready, you can read about my progress there.

I'm gonna take some pictures of the chest later... I got it all stained righ tnow. Its a light colored stain... Colonial Maple I think its called.

Hopefully tonight, I can get my server space set-up and a domain name.

While my site is under construction, here's an update. My evaporator is inside of its home now.



The coil is 3/8", it took a while to coil it, but its done. I started the insulation as you can see. Its Armaflex Insulation tape, then a lining of foil tape, and then two layers of insulation tape. When all is said and done, I'm going to prime and paint it. Probably Blue.
