Speaking of Norm and tools, here's a look at all the tools I'm using on this project, and some progress pics.
![]() I decided before I started any of these projects to buy a Belt Sander. It sure helps with the hardwood. Cost me 170 bucks. The cheaper Made in China sanders were 99 bucks. This thing's a champ too. Its no wonder that Norm uses Porter cable. *sniff sniff, but they now moved to Mexico, not made in usa no more* ![]() That was the table saw I was using before I burned out the motor. It was dad's, and he had to get a new one. These people just can't design a blade guard right. This one burned out because of the pinch in the back. The new one does the same dang thing. I got a picture of it earlier in the thread of course. I miss this one though, it had more weight to it. ![]() This is now mine. Bought dad a new one for christmas; alot less bulky than this one. So I inherited this one. Of course I'll be getting rid of it ASAP. i.e. when I move out. If you don't know what it is, its a Random Orbital Sander... but I trust you do ![]() ![]() I introduced this one earlier. ![]() ![]() This is a handy tool. Bought it on a whim much like my Belt Sander. It so far has proven pretty handy for both projects. Try drilling a stubborn piece of plastic with a power drill. Pain in the ass. ![]() |

![]() For some reason image shack didnt want you to see this one. Its just a router . Had to shove it down its throat. Anyways, this thing comes in handy for moulding. I also used ot to cut the grooves in the drawer sides for the bottom. I'll use it for the desk top edge too.![]() ![]() Already introduced this one. Although its my favorite, so I figured I'd post some other angles, hehe. I love that color scheme too. ^_^ Okay, now for progress pics. |

Well ya know I don't have alot of time to search for my pics. Lost the little card it seems. Its prolly in my room somewheres. So I got these two.
![]() ![]() The one on top goes on the right side, and the other is the left side. It'll be a nice and big corner desk when I'm finished with it. All I really gotta do with these is finish the drawers on the computer side. I already got the drawers, minus the fronts done on the other side. Drawers are just a pain, let me tell you. If Norm saw how badly I cheated.... hehe. I had to slop the last runner together in the front. It works though, that's all that counts really. After I get more wood, I'm going to continue work on the big hutch that goes on top. Making good progress on that too.Last edited by RamsesIII : March 15th, 2005 at 08:09 PM. |

Finally, how about some pictures of my compressor. You know I forgot to include these in the thread. Had to doctor some of them because of the bad lighting in my room. Well its good lighting, but not condusive for photos. There's alot of red in these pictures because of the walls being orange hehe. It reflects in a bad way.
![]() ![]() ![]() Now I gotta say, this beast is freaking heavy. I can't seem to find its volume, but obviously its pretty big. ![]() |

Made my condenser coil just now. Lookin pretty good. Its done from my 1/4 inch tubing. I think its 5/16 od... I hope so... If not I gotta go to the a/c supply store tomorrow.
Anyways, Gebo, about your multi evaporator idea... If I were to do that, should I use the same coiling? I gotta make the coils tight, and I don't think I can get 3/8" to coil that tight without kinking. My concern is... would the 1/4" allow for low enough pressure for the multiple evaporators? I'm concerned that splicing multiple 3/8" coils into one 3/8" suction line would cause problems. |

I'm sorry I don't have any pics yet, gotta recharge my digital camera's battery. But I went outside and fashioned another small coil. At first I was gonna use the one as a condenser coil but then I got an idea. I merged the two together and made a dual evaporator. Think of fingers interlocking.
Its like taking two slinkys, bending them and shuffling them togehter like a deck of cards. I'll show ya the picture later. |

![]() ![]() ![]() Alright, there she is. That's my idea for the dual evap. Both of those are 1/4" soft tubing, since I couldn't get the 3/8" to coil effectively; and I was also concerned with combining multiple 3/8" tubes into a single 3/8" suction line. I should suspect that I have room for 3 total evaporators with this setup to tie back into a 3/8" suction tube. Now, what I'm saying is that this one goes in the main cooler. How big of a deal would it be to use a sub-cooler for the condenser water using a 3rd cappilary tube leading from the TXV? Thanks to ImageShack for Free Image Hosting |
