You know come to think of it copper prices have always been higher than steel.
So yes, not a viable alternative. But dear old dad suggested something else. Plastic. Craft stores carry plastic that I can just glue together then seal with silicone. Never thought of that, plus it'll serve as a better insulator for sound. |

Plastic will insulate for sound alot more effectively than metal. My father told me that, and then it occurred to me that he was very right hehe.
As for the extreme bit.. its not that important. Its just that daily theres someone there to "Correct" me. Usually its because I figured I could omit some of the gory details because I figured they already know, only to have them figure I don't know and get all professor on me. ![]() Anyways, I thought of another idea last night when I was going over the charging problem. I'm going to install a relief valve. I'll have to hook it up to an auxilliary vacummed cylinder. That way if it ever exceeds design pressure (more than the system can handle) it'll discharge in order to prevent damage. |

Alright, got some time off. Tonight I'm going to re-measure my space in my room. I got some wood to use downstairs. I'll first go to Home Depot of course to pick up some biscuits to join the boards together. (Got a joiner of course). Sparing no expense here.
Of course I could use plywood just as well. Its gotta be one or the other though, becase the seat will not fit up right after a few years if I don't. This is gonna be fun ^_^ Personally I can't wait to get the whole kitten caboodle finished and running. Even if I dont have my comp ready, it'll be nice to test it. I've gotta test the capacity anyways before I even install it. And I gotta find out how to control condensation. Insulation works, but I need some vapochill like heating elements. Does anyone know where to look for that? |

Why would you need a heating element for? the whole point of what youre doing is to get the cpu as cold as possible right?....... for condensation, use alot of dielectric grease and you should be fine.......
if it help, this was how I insulated mine..... Last edited by macrohard : March 11th, 2005 at 07:21 PM. |

You have to consider that youre not going to get the same temp as a vaporchill..... For me yes, a heating element will prevent unnecceary moisture and you dont have to use as much dielectric grease but since you have to use the grease anyways whats another 3"x4" area........ for the amount of work you have to put in to make a heating element, i would just spread some grease behind the mobo and be over with it....... well thats me cos Im lazy.....

Well, I was working until I couldn't find the saw guide. My father put it somewhere and he doesn't know where. I've given up looking now I gotta wait for him to get home.
In the meantime I've been testing the foam idea. Its curing right now, we'll know in an hour or two how well it will do; but it will take a full 24 hours to cure completely. |
