Liquid Nitrogen Cooling
Check out this video that i found of a pc being cooled by liquid nitrogen
http://youtube.com/watch?v=A2fEn7Mv53A water cooling gets pwned |

how long ago did u do that?? cos i saved that video from a website about 1.5 years ago, maybe 2 years.
the good thing about water cooling is that you dont have to refill the water reservoir every day or two, like you have to with liquid nitrogen. |

I know, i'm just kidding, it is NOT my video, i just thought that it would be goofy to put it up and see if people believed it. hehee, but I'm not sure if they actually use this cooling system, they probably just did it for kicks and then went back to liquid-cooled. However, the project was still very fascinating, and a really cool idea as well. CRANKJAW!

Yeah, people use LN sometimes. Not for running constantly, but as long as they can with the supply of LN. It's just to try to overclock and see how far they can go, this isn't a set up to be used constantly.

LN2 is not expensive but the jugs to hold it are a little pricey. If you get it from the right place that may just loan you the jugs. If anyone is serious try welding companies, or AirGas.
As a sidenote dry ice works just as good for most projects and is better for price/avalibility.

Ice cold water would not work. Both LN2 and dry ice are sub-zero temps, I think LN2 is -210c. You can actually burn yourself if you touch it.
A cool solution I saw a while back was a showerhead cooler. It actually caused some condensation on the block. Ill try to see if i can find that page. |

Why doesn't everybody just put their computer in a refrigerator? Freezer?

you'll notice that he put foam over the metal tubing to avoid condensation, a freezer and such would crate condensation, and if you put foam on it, it would be too insulated to get cold. than and a frigerator/freezer has so much pressure that solids over time sublime. subliming silicon chips is not good
