Sorry, I've been slow?
In my setup I'm using the Swiftech Apogee. There was another, the storm....something like that. It's the really rare one that's made by hand by the dude that created it. Storm 5 or something. If you can get one of those, that's the best one.
Dunno if it's been covered or not, but reserviors are not required, the system goes res > pump > rad > block > 2nd block (if you've got one) > res
If you want a quiet system, don't go water. Even with my fans turned all the way down, the pump makes noise and the moving water makes noise, etc. It's quiet, but not as quiet as my throttled two-fan system.
Get non-conductive cooling (PC ICE) and do a couple-day leak test. I had a leak and believe me - you want NO LEAKS or else things get fucked up.
