Stanford adjusting Nvidia points downward
Posting this for everyone to be aware of it.
Seems the good old days of high points/ fast work turnaround is about over with.

Newer Nvidia work units are larger but for less points
Reminds me of the SMP 1920 point work unit compared with the 1760 pointers

There's a thread at Stanford's official forum thats already 8 pages deep with complaints about it.

I guess our team PPD is going to take another hit once this points adjustment is executed. I know I, Papa, John Frank, Python15 and everyone one else running Nvidia GPU2 clients have already taken a slight hit downward in ppd average. Don't sweat it much. Were still doing fine as a team!!

I surely have noted that my Gpu used to fold 1% in 1:16 secs now it takes about 1:27 at same temps i was worried wat was happening but i think this might be the cause of it

Yup, noticed! Have a unit running now, project 5019, benchmark for this is 1 min 54 secs per %. That's over 30 seconds slower!!!!

At least it affects everyone and will hit the teams folding purely on Nvidia GPUv2 hardest!

OK so i just joined the gpu2 folding crew tonight...im hitting out 1min 56 per % on my 8800gts 320mb card...is that good or bad?

That's not too bad. I'm guessing your running at stock, eh? ihad that project running at 1 min 21 secs but was screwing the card a bit. Oh and for Papa! Word DIRECT from the Nvidia man! Running your card at 100 degs C is OK!!!

p.s. I now have a room full of Crane Fly's trying to keep my card cool wit the windows wide open. The cpu loves it but the GPU isn't impressed!

Well I had mine at 763Mhz but when it got a bit warm, like tonight I got the odd eue.

p.s. These new units make your card run even hotter by about 3-5 degs.

I'll run stock for a week to see results.

Rather have constant ppd than trying to push it too much too soon and end up losing a couple of WU's.

Well any card I have ever had that ran over 70* cel ran like shit while playing Games.

But that could have been drivers too......I've heard drivers can make a diff in your temps.

Thats why I switched to a Zalman VF900-CU for my 7900GT SC...What an awesome job that did Results Here

Just wish it would fit my 8800GT........The Stk Cooling Sucks

Stick a 120mm fan on it, or run it passive as long as you have good cooling in your case.

Dropped a good 30-35C off my loads

And that was on passive with the side of my case cracked open.
