Nice idea .
What about those who use passcodes? They are still optional, but for those using them they may prevent our help. I will research that further later today (time to go to work).

I can't see many people using those. Why would they?

Passcodes... who uses passcodes... lol...
Heck if someone wants or accidentially puts their rig under my name I'll gladly take it
Nice idea Jammer.
Yet at the same time it honestly doesn't matter to me. Points are points that's now why you should be folding. My score shows what I have done and accomplished, no shame in it being a lower "score" than others. I mean who determines what cores are worth certain points, and how do they do that? Probably something along the lines of complexity, but who says its the really complex proteins that hold the key. Perhaps the guy with the 2000 points got just the right work units that lead to a big discovery.
Points are points, it's almost like rep... It's there so we pay attention to it, but it really means very little.

I don't see any point of helping somebody out. Why does that matter so much? It still goes under the same team.
It sure is a nice gesture but after all, regardless from whom the points come from, they are for the team. And the team is only one, the DevFolding. Now whether those extra 8,000 ppds come from John Doe or Mark Doe, it's irrelevant. Perhaps fighting for that batch? It just gets old just as Top Poster one does. Each one of us that end up with this Top Poster badge are bored to tears with it, we'd gladly lend it over, forever.
Anyone can check out my points, they are perhaps "shameful" for some or so low in the eyes of others, but only I do know that I've folded with a Celeron 1.7GHz overclocked that it was heating my entire room just to meet the deadlines of 180 pointer WUs. Sure this took 2 days or so and it was back in late '05s and early '06s. Then I got my P4 which ran on 4GHz, it was happily crunching double WU's running hyperthreading, and all that.
But hey, now as of lately, thanks to the GPU2 clients, it's perhaps a bit frustrating but one should keep up with the pace of technology. One 8800GT over a course of one day does almost double than how much I was generating over an entire month with my P4 and Celeron rig three years ago. Kind of sucks, right? But hey, we're still fighting over the same cause. Back then they were worth perhaps more - during the days you were required to have an entire lab or folding farm with dozens of rigs to score over 6-8K days. Kevin did. We all know that he could do that, he had the resource to do so. And we were all oh so happy that he was doing it for us (folding under our team's name).
But right now one just needs a couple of 8800GT's, put them into several rigs, and boomer - there you have 20K per day, easily. You fold for a week and you have more points than one that was folding for 3 years with two rigs, non-stop, 24/7. Is that fair? I don't know. I don't care that much. It's just all matters of perspective. I wouldn't mind anyone folding over my name, sure, why would I ever use passphrase or all that. But I don't think my reputation would change or that somebody from this place might think differently from me just because I'm putting out an outrageous amount of PPD.
I could have the resource to fold with hundreds of rigs. Heck, my work position could allow me to do technically anything. But I am not going to do that because it has been discussed and it is against our company policy - and common agreement with others, of whom we're depending and/or relying on, such as subsidiaries and all that. And after all, like I said, it's for the cause, not letting your own rig to idle, not to abuse from other system - b0rg or use other malicious resources. Now that we're talking about this, one could take advance of security vulnerabilities of a well-known website, use advanced (not blind) sql injections, find other vulnerabilities, such as exploiting the file_upload variable, finding a directory with write access (there are plenty) and ultimately - hooking up trojan droppers that would install and start folding under that name without the user's knowledge. Why bother? You may get caught and it would ruin the reputation of our Team.
Everybody should do his or her best to fold, for the same cause, and to contribute to our team. Sure we don't do so good compared to Team [H] or others, but at least I'm happy we'll overtake quite soon the PlanetAMD64. They will bite the dust unless they turn over to the darkside and go with Intel. Or least the majority of top folders are ought to do that. And I'm a bit happy for MacAddict4Life too. We'll wipe the floor with them, too.
As for everybody else, I'm folding because I can. I'm upgrading mainly for this cause, of course I want the performance upgrade that comes from the new platform and all that, but as for video performance, I could do pretty well with an S3 Savage 8MB or any on-board video. But if I have the hardware, why not - simple as that. Electricity costs here too a big chunk, but it's irrelevant, components do cost twice more than they do over there, so if I can afford the stuff, I'd better be affording to run them on load, too.

Totally agree with Mad and Papa's comments.
If people really want some points PM me and I'll consider it. I do not need more points (except for memphist0 on my tail ), but I do want to keep folding with dev folding and for a good cause.
I have said many times in the past I am a n00b to the team - even though I was quickly in the top position. That was last year, this year I do not consider myself as much of a n00b because I have been folding for over a year (consistently).
I run a small business (me and my life partner) she supports my folding effort because it is for a good cause. I am proud of what we can contribute - which is why I fold in the company name.
It is the team that supports us and the team that is there through thick and thin that makes it special and proud to be in DevFolding. I was excited when I started and was at the bottom of the team list because of the support of other team members and I am still excited to be part of this team.
No matter what position you are in on the team I respect each and every folder equally that is doing what they can, we know each of them. It is not their individual points that count, but the effort they give to donate them through dev folding that is important.

Thanks Papa.
Isn't it strange, I started folding because I saw what other team members were doing and thought it was a great thing to try and support, shows how the team really does help each other and build spirit.

That was my idea John, to try and help out some others, in a team spirit in doing so.
Had a few chime in telling me not to screw up their stats, so I said fine, if ya don't want some help from me, just post in here stating so!!
