New to folding....please help!

I'm new to the folding technology. I have heard of it for some time now but I never participated.

I downloaded the folding program and entered my name and team number. The question I have is how do I get recognized for it here? I see icons next to members names and specifics under their posts.

How do I get to set up this information like everyone else is?

I can't seem to find the information that I need to show off my folds as it starts progressing.

And to add to Rich, you have to complete the first work unit (WU) before the (gear,flower) thing will show up.

And it won't show up until the next day or so, when the stats on the Dev server are updated...

OKay, thanks I didn't see user number part. So is it right if the cp menu for says to enter a six digit user number and its only five digits?

How about the box with all the folding user stats and team stats? How can I get one of them, is it a signature file? I think the rules here call for 30 days as a member before I can add a signature. Correct me if I am wrong on this.

There are various sigs you can use for folding but you do need to wait till you can use a sig.

And your rig should be fine. Some of us have PIII folding and they get the job done.

Okay, I entered my number under my 'user cp' page.

How many WU's or points do I need for a flower next to my name or gear? Just wondering, since I only have 1 WU done so far. I haven't been folding very long plus I play games on my computer which probably slows down the folding.

You will get your first blue protein after turning in your first WU...but because you have just entered your number in your usercp today you will have to wait 'til the server updates, so should be in for tomorrow.

I get to show off my little flower thing and support for folding. Now I just have to wait until I can use my signature!

I was wondering how do you get so many points? I mean I am on my third WU right now and each has had 5000 frames and its only worth 186 points.

I see that IceDragon has 300K + points, how long does it take to get that high.

I only have a AMD Athlon XP 2500+ running at stock speed of 1.83 ghz with 1.0 gig of PC2700 ram. I guess my processor is too slow to get my score anything that high.

I have been folding for 6mo. and done 200 WU for about 50,000 points if that helps.

It all depends on how many computers that you can get your hands on. Some members here have access to computers at work. Others have friends and family computers folding for them. There is also a couple that have turned their homes into mini folding farms by building computers for the main reason of folding....

Anyways the easiest way to increase your folding output if you don't know anybody that will allow you to set the client up on their computer is to upgrade to an Ati card that can fold under the gpu client.

Remember, it not the amount you fold but more of the fact your contributing!
That's what matters most!

I started off folding on my 2500+ rig and slowly got myself additional dual core rigs just for folding. Then when the gpu client was introduced a few months back I bought a x1900xtx card and then recently picked up a x1950pro 512mb card.

As Brian has said the gpu client gives the best ppd...330points per WU. I can do 2 WU's a day on each card.

Well I guess I'll just let it go with what I have. I can't really afford to upgrade my system or my gpu for that matter. I only have a 9600 pro w/256mb and I'm sure thats way too ancient in processing standards to even use with the new gpu folding.

Considering I've had the same system for 3 years and video card for 2 it gets the job done. Gaming ability is now starting to require a better system than I have now but then again I don't go out and buy all the new games anyway.
