Yeah Vijay Pande, the head guy of the Stanford F@H project stated early on, that Nvidia optimised the 174.55 driver for GPU folding and that its the best 1 to use
It's the only driver I've used since I started GPU folding

I wonder if a Physics Driver has anything to do with PPD...Apparently the 177.39 is getting better 3dMark scores so I wonder if it will help GPU WU Heres an Artical that explains the NEW 177.39

I know changing from 175.80 and going back to 174.55 did me a great deal .....today I managed 6240PPD...now minus the SMP that still equills 4320PPD which is better than the 3000+ I was getting
It has an addition now in parenthesis that states the 174.55 or higher drivers are essential for proper CUDA folding.
I've read of others using up to the 177.xx versions now, so I guess its just a personal preference as to what driver you want to run above the minimum 174.55 reference driver.

I will look into the new 177.39 drivers. I have so many odd things to sort out at the moment I will leave them running as they do not have any problems (and I am away for a few days again from Sunday), points will drop and there is ground to be had
I need to get all of these odd jobs done and then have some time to play with the OC settings on these cards as others are getting 1,000 ppd more so it would be good to understand at what cost (noise, temp, card stress, etc).
The cards I am running are MSI GeForce 9800GTX with oem OC. I have not loaded any utilities at all to play with settings except I tried the MSI monitor and it says it is running GPU at 730 and memory at 2200. So it will be fun when I have some time (hopefully in a few weeks) to really play.

I'm curious if anyone here knows how the driver revision numbers run. The nVidia website had no helpful information that I could find. Does each platform/OS gets is own unique numbers or does the same number indicate the same functional level across all platforms? I'm asking because the latest driver revision for my platform (64-bit Linux) is 173.14.09. I know I can't fold on it, just wondered if the numbers meant anything.

Ben, other than standard revision number releases I do not know much about their rev releases across different platforms.
I think the best chance of an answer to that might be in the NVidia forum.
