but it's missing the one before the .7 Ghz
I say that bc my slot 1 board only has a 400 Mhz P2, and if my socket A board turns out to be a nogo for my firewall, I'm going to need a beefier CPU to handle my summer-long torrent party.

Hah..you've got two days for that. She will come back tomorow and the school will start from Monday. I am once again planning to add few more systems from there. Let's hope I can give you some fight back...

Quick question on folding speed:
I'm currently folding on a T'Bird 1.3, and I'm soon upgrading to an Opty 165, do you guys think I'll notice a difference in folding speed? Or do I need to OC the Opty?

I thought so.
A friend of mine says he has this PII 233 left over, and he says it's faster since it's 233 and the Opteron is only 165. He says I can have it for 150 bucks (which will still be cheaper than the Opteron!), but I can't find any motherboards for it. Is it that new?

Comparing PII 233 with Opty 165? I am confused now...or maybe my knowledge in this models sucks completely.
Edit:In fact, I read more about those two models and I am in utter confusion. It is late here and I may have lost my senses to booze. j/k.... Can you link me to both of them? Because from what I read, Opty 165 is 1.8GHz while T'bird 1.3 is 1.3GHz. Clearly Opty is winner here. And now you are talking about comparison with PII 233!!? I may even have to retract my previous statement...sorry about that.

Hook line and sinker....
Geez guys, I hoped you'd see through this one...
I thought you were on to me Tejas, when you said I'd only see a difference between a 1.3GHz Thunderbird and a 1.8GHz dual core Opteron 165 if I OC'd the Opty!
You _really_ were inebriated when you wrote that.
Next I was gonna ask if the 'Dual Core' in the Opteron meant the same as 'Pentium Two'...
Oh, and I'd never go PII, especially not for folding. If anything old and Intel, P3 (SSE support)...
But seriously, I'm guessing the Opty will do a workunit at least 3 times faster than the T'Bird, and it can do two simultaniously, obviously, so am I overly optimistic if I expect something like a sixfold increase of my ppd on this machine?

I thought there was something wrong in your question. But I didn't expect you to not know the difference between T'bird and Opty. And then when you asked about comparison between P2 and Opty, I was completely stumped because I couldn't decide whether you were serious or not. Geez...why did I fall for your trap!!
I thought you were drunk..
