Ok I did some looking around and found out that this does indeed speed up folding by about 30%. I locked up a couple of times trying to run two instances of F@H but found a helpful tip that cured the problem. In order to run two consoles at the same time with hyperthreading you need to add this flag in the same place the other optimizations go. -local
Im not exactly sure what it does but it has something to do with keeping files out of the registry and avoiding conflicts. So all you need to do is set up each console the same way. The only difference is you need to label one Machine 1 and the other Machine 2. Has indeed improved my speed about 30% on the nose. ![]() |

i dont think it makes any difference to be honest. ive added "-service" to make my f@h run as a background service with firedaemon and it doesnt matter where i put the service

I put it at the end of my optimization flags. Looks like this:
-advmethods -forceasm -local I used it on both consoles too, although I think you only need it on only one of them. So far so good, both consoles humming along. ![]() Agents right, it doesnt matter where it goes, front or back is fine. |

Im running two folding clients at the same time. It can only be done on multi processor machines or HT machines in our case. what you need to do is this. Create two new folders in "my documents" or anywhere you want to keep them. Name them whatever you want, i used Folding1 and Folding2 to avoid confusion and starting the same one twice. After you create the new folders, download the textonly version(twice). Once for each new folder you created. After you have the executable, one in each new folder, right click on it and create a shortcut. ( Do this for each one. ) Then right click on the shortcut you just made and add this to the end of the line in the Target line. -advmethods -forceasm -local will look like this: "C:\Documents and Settings\Jeff\My Documents\Folding1\FAH3Console.exe" -advmethods -forceasm -local make sure to use spaces. space after the quotes and between each flag. After you have this done you can set up each one. One at a time. Click on the shortcut and set up like normal, but you must identify them as different machines when it asks in the setup. Just use machine 1 and machine 2. Thats about it. WHen your done setting each one up just remember you have to start each one seperately every time by using the shorcuts you made. El, glad to see your finally completing some WUs. I've been watching you sit at 87 WUs for the past few weeks now and when I just checked you had 89. Brought a tear to my eye. I'm like a proud father watching his son do something right for once. ::sniff:: Good job!
