Well in the interests of Devfolding and the current cold weather I have just downloaded the latest client and starting some folding going. Not sure how it will perform, may show that it is time to upgrade some hardware and up to Windows 7 64 bit (still on Vista 32 bit).

Hope it will add to the numbers
It's the hardware that makes the difference. For example, I have two computers folding. The 1st is not much faster than the 2nd but it has a much better video card. The better video card allows it to perhaps produce 50% more points than the other. Each computer is running 2 clients at one time. One client is running on the CPU while the other is running on the GPU. BTW, both are running Windows 7 32-bit.
Normally I let the computers fold 24/7 but (even right now) but sometimes I will pause the clients if necessary. I started some online classes and will definitely pause the clients when taking a test. I will also shut down the computers if it is storming. If I have time I will pause the clients. Last year I lost a computer when I was too slow to shut it down during a storm.

The power had been out for the whole house for about 20-30 minutes when I realized I had left the computer on running on its UPS battery. I ran in and commanded the computer to shut down. While it was shutting down lightning struck the house and killed the computer. The APC UPS did not save the computer. Even it eventually failed and had to be replaced a few months later.

Hey
I tried folding on my ancient 260gtx's last week and they pegged out at 88c - I stopped the client on card 2 and let card 1 run 2 work units. Still too hot here to fold for now. If it ever cools down, I'll jump back into folding for a while. I see JohnFrank has risen from the dead!! Some of us wondered if you had died when ya went missing for 2 years or so. I haven't folded in over 2 years now. The past 2 summers have just been way too hot. 2011 was our hottest ever recorded here - with 71 days over 100F - it sucked bigtime!!

Well, until next time. Cheers Dev folders!
Jammer, good to hear from you. try again if you can when it is a little cooler. Every little bit helps.
It would be great if some of the older folders came back on board again.

Good to see your folding again mate.
Now that I'm back on the forums I'm gonna have to get some clients running myself. Although the price of electricity here in UK will mean i cant fold 24/7 like i used to.

Same back at you.
Same problem for us, that us why I stopped folding for so long electricity and heat generated from these old machines.
I should be stopping but would love to reach 30M, heat may hit first and will require me to stop again.
If anyone can fold (even a bit) it helps your points, the team and the folding community. It would be great to see some more of the older folders back online again - come on guys!
